ok. so last night hairs and i went to redhill for supper. and we ordered a plate of chai dao kui. so the uncle comes with our chai dao kui and a pair of chopsticks, and i go, "ke yi gei wo men duo yi shuang kuai zi mah? (could you give us another pair of chopsticks?)" and uncle goes, "yao duo yi shuang zi ji qu na. liang kuai qian de zhi shi yi ge ren chi de. ni men mei yo zao shuo. (you want another pair, go take yourself. $2 is only meant for a single person's share. plus you all didn't state you all were sharing when you ordered.)"
and for a moment i thought he was joking with me cos the situation was seriously so blardee ridiculous. we were sitting DIRECTLY outside his stall i.e. his stall was only a stone's throw away i.e. he just needed to walk 2 steps and he'd be back there i.e. i thought he'd suddenly burst out laughing and say he was joking and turn around and grab another pair of chopsticks for us. BUT NOOOO... he just stared straight at us, dead serious. and i was like, are you for real?!
so anyway, he was. and i had to walk 4 steps altogether to take my extra pair of chopsticks. hardwork eh? i nearly died from exhaustion. uncle, i totally understand why you were so unwilling to go the extra mile.
sigh. is it just singapore or is the service in every other country just as bad?
